PSA Regular Turnaround Hits 70–80 Business Days

As of August 23, 2026, PSA’s Online Submission Center shows Regular trading-card grading at 70 - 80 business days. The tier is still $79.99 per card with a $1,500 maximum insured value — the cheapest direct U.S. PSA door since the June 2 Value-tier pause. Sports Illustrated reported the website change on August 21, 2026; the numbers below were re-checked on PSA’s own domain for this article.

High-impact turnaround claims require the company page, not a repost. Figures below were read from psacard.com/submit on August 23, 2026. PSA states estimates are not guaranteed and do not begin until the order is entered into the grading system.

How this differs from the August 7 CGN briefing
Our August 7 piece, PSA’s Backlog and the Value Tier Pause, reflected Regular at $79.99 with a 40–50 business day estimate while Value Bulk, Value, Value Plus, and Value Max stayed paused. That article still covers pause mechanics. This post is the dated update for the Regular clock: the pause did not end; the open tier’s published wait lengthened.
SI’s August 21 report also noted longer Super Express and Walk-Through estimates. The live submit page checked here matches Super Express at 10–15 business days and Walk-Through at 7–10. When a secondary story and the form disagree, use the form.
Backlog context: 11.85 million on August 11
PSA’s Backlog Tracker update dated August 11, 2026 reported an active backlog of 11.85 million units, down from 12.4 million on July 28. Value-tier reopening remains tied to roughly 5 million units, not a calendar date. The June 2 tracker entry projected about 5–6 months to that target after the pause-era influx.
Decision rule: treat 5 million on the Backlog Tracker as the Value reopen signal. Do not mail bulk-style orders against a rumored month — PSA has not published a guaranteed reopen day on the pages checked for this article.
What 70–80 business days means in practice
Business days exclude weekends and holidays. A 70–80 business-day estimate is on the order of 14–16 calendar weeks after PSA enters the order, before return shipping. The submit disclaimer says turnaround may change rapidly without notice. If a Regular order is already in-house and unfinished, plan against the current published estimate unless PSA’s account tools show a different completion window for that order.
Decision rule: if the card must be back for a show, consignment, or sale window inside ~4 months, Regular is the wrong tier on today’s menu. Compare Express ($149 / 20–30 business days) or higher against your deadline — or wait.
Submission math when Regular is expensive and slow
The June 2 pause already removed every sub-$65 PSA door. Extending Regular’s estimate raises the cost of being wrong without changing the fee. Card Grading News documented in The Real Gem Rate Is 23.9% that unfiltered AI scans gem far less often than published submission gem rates. At $79.99 and a multi-month clock, cards that only worked at Value Bulk pricing do not belong in Regular.
That is why pre-screening stopped being optional in 2026. Screen first; submit only cards that clear your grade floor; hold the rest until a cheaper PSA tier reopens or another grader’s live menu fits.
Decision rule: do not submit at Regular unless you can accept both the $79.99 fee and a 70–80 business-day estimate. If either fails, hold or route elsewhere.
Other graders are also managing intake

TAG’s Backlog Tracker (08.13.2026 update on the page checked this run) shows backlog load near 134% of capacity — about a 68% cut from a 420% peak — and anticipates a first limited reopening around August 27, 2026, with full catch-up estimated by end of September. Those are TAG projections, not guarantees.
